END OF HEATER END OF BLOG!!!!!!

Hi guys, Thanx alot for following the blog whilst i had this nice journey. I have decided to end it here as i encountered my first losing session for a while. I didn't go busto but took a serious damage. Lost around £6K and decided to cash out the rest.

This adventure has served me well and i have made £11K in such a short peroid of time. So i am very happy. I am also expecting a good rakeback. Not sure if i will continue or cash it out immediately.

I didn't have the patience and made a silly move by playing whilst drunk. And penalised my self by cashing out the remainder.

The bankroll is on £0

Luck vs Skill

Following the recent success path i am on, few questions have been raised on the topic by my friends, Naturally they are puzzled by the exponential growth of the roll, and have asked me to come up with a logical explanation of how this sick heater could be anything but pure hard luck!

I haven't played enough days to complete a nice sample of data for statistical analysis, nor do i use Poker Tracker to gather that sort of info. ( although i am seriously thinking about it.)

So is it intuitive? lucky or else.. I have mentioned at the beginning of the blog that i would set up objectives on how i plan to grow my roll. Unfortunately i have never got down to document it as such, but rest assured i had the basics of what i wanted to do subconsciously. I say subconsciously because i have been playing this game for a long time without the BRM. I have read tons of books. articles and various blogs. I have tried to prove the odds of starting hand success vs each other along with other experiments to make me believe that this is nothing other than statistical game. And thats what poker is.

For long time I have played under rolled and it meant that my chips would eventually vanish in to air due to hitting negative side of swings and never be able to recover.

Things are a little different now. I am comfortably cushioned for about 50+ buyins at $2/5 around 120+ buyins at $1/2 and over rolled for lower levels . And the comfort zone means i can play with piece of mind which is very important and lets me concentrate purely on the game rather tan having to think about the financial side of things until cash out.

So was i lucky so far ? Yes i was lucky to hit a sick heater to reach the point i am at in such a short period. But i believe the skill part of my game now has been re-inforced by the stack ive accumulated and it means correct decisions will pay in the long run regardless of swings. (provided i don't go over budget and take shots at levels where i have few buy-ins)

My game is on the edge with 20 buyins at any level, and as that number increases i believe my style gets comfortable and results become visible. I don't multitable. I play maximum of 2 HU tables, and i fully concentrate on the game. I play for stacks rather than BB/100.

The game is a luck game in the short run but as the number of games increases the luck factor decreases and the results are reflected on the bankroll.

Yesterdays profit: 848 pounds,

The roll now stands at 14,597 pounds

The lucky streak continues....

Still Running Hot!!!

Well, those of you expecting a stop to the good run i am on, will have to wait a little longer. :-) I have been playing straightforward ABC poker at levels between $.25/.50 - $2/5 and managed to increase the roll by £1247.
I don't know if i am extremely lucky or opposition is having trouble to adjust to my game. Not that i'm complaining...

Few interesting hands where i lost a nice $1K pot vs lang56 when i had AAA vs his flush draw on flop.

But luck evened out and i manage to suck out on bluecheek for around $1K AKh vs KK. :-)
I think i won around 3 buyins from him and about 1 buyin from Lang56 the rest was from random smaller games.

I hope i can maintain this streak for a little longer...

I would be interested to know what your longest winning streak is? please leave your comments and experiences as i do not want to be deluded by this success.

Roll is now at £13,749

CRUISING......

It's nice to have a stress free session and come on top!!! Today i started with $.25/.50 a little, then $1/$2 and finally around 30 mins of $2/5 HU GAMES and banked a win of £430

No downswings or dipping down before rising. Plain old sailing.

"Sick Poker" Blogger has been mentoring me in the right direction through real time electronic communication and i no longer feel lost. I have an aim and have around a year to do it. So thank you to Rob also Iron, goose and anonymous!

No more silly moves like yesterday, no more being a hotshot !! just a regular 2/5 hu player with moderate shots at 5/10 when running and feeling good!!!

I wish everyday would be like this.. but thats a dream...

Roll is now at £12,508

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

"Anonymous said...

Unfortunately it looks like you will go bust soon, just seen you hitting the 25/50 tables, you managed to win a nice 10k pot on one table but i thought you were getting a bit beat up on the other one.

YOU CANNOT WIN EVERYDAY FOR A SUSTAINED PERIOD, SOME DAYS YOU WILL LOSE!! If you run to 25/50 for a quick fix everytime u had a bad session i guarentee you will go bust."

This comment sounds very similar to the ones at Bluescouses blog and it reminds me of what i used to think of him....

What is going on? Are the demons trying to get in control?or have they already got me under control.

The anonymous tip has frightened me a lot because i dont think i realise what sort of roll i am dealing with.!!!

It was only about a month ago i was playing at $.25/,50 HU tables and now im on tables with 4 digits. (in this particular case 5 digits)

Ok i am taking this as a major warning and a wake up call!!! My expectancies have already been reached and anything more from now on is plus.

1/2 and 2/5 is my limit and 5/10 is my shot limit.
I don't expect to win everyday and will not force it!!!
I will keep tilt under control!

and will not play when i don't feel like it!!!

easy to say and write but really is a tough job! Nevertheless who says poker is easy!

It's not just about odds and domination and long run !!! its about keeping the monster inside locked. Thats when the rest becomes easy!!!

Back to what ive done yesterday....

Came from work had my dinner and played around 1 hr of poker resulting in 600 quid win.

Then watched the champions league final game and came back to lose around 3-4 buyins to bluecheek at $2/5. Got off not being too upset to look for new oppo's. There weren't any so i waited a while and got bored. Thats when i decided to take shot at $25/50. Im not proud of it but its done now. I will not talk about it either. But i was lucky and managed to come on top.

The roll now stands at 12.078 pounds

What am I Playing at???? To anyone who was watching some of the games I had yesterday it must’ve been visible that my emotional state had got the better of me. First pot I got involved was a success and downhill from then on. Cracked AA,KK,QQ you name it …. Eventually lead to a CRACKED ~ROYALFIRE!!!! Making mistake after mistake.

Was down around $2-3 K that’s when I realised I was semi tilting and the worse part is I couldn’t do anything to stop me going in that direction. Not gonna go into details but managed to end the session being apprx £400 UP!!!

It wasn’t just the hands got me tilted it was also the psychological state I was in. I didn’t want to drop from my new £10.000 mark, and it was almost like playing with Scared money.

Ok guys, now I did want this blog to be a bit more interactive, thanx to those who already take part, but those of you who follow silently, would you be kind enough to share your views on how to manage Tilt. I’m sure there are great solutions to this common problem.
While some will work for some and not others.

It’ll be interesting to hear your side.

5 digits in £'s

Beginning of the session roll dipped down a few £100s, due to lack of cards and quite a loose style. then refocus and having the luck wind behind, manage to get in front around £650 at $2/5 and $5/10 simultaneous HU tables.

To close the session i sat at £.25/.50 and £.5/1 tables to make the rest of the profit which increased my roll to £10,021.

Now i have the perfect roll i need to start laying a cashout plan on regular basis. Otherwise i might be tempted by the devil to take shots at levels i couldn't afford.

todays profit is £813.

Ended today with 100 quid profit increasing my bankroll to £9208. I have been running fairly dry, and had few hands cracked. But as i was playing .50/1 1/2 and 2/5 HU games, it meant that i was cushioned for it and no harm was done.

short post but nothing interesting happened. (was rather boring)

I guess grinding is tough.... Lets see if i have what it takes...

LUCKY FISH THAT I AM.......

It was a long session, i think another aspect of the game i need to improve is the length of the sessions. There is a limit for keeping the concentration level at peak, after i lose that, my game becomes boring and monotone. The creativity side of it vanishes and i become no different than a bot.

What started as a good day yesterday, almost ended with me being 2K down but luckily again managed to find a way to keep me in the green. Bluecheek last night played a brilliant game on both of the tables we were playing. I managed to drop 2 K on one of them and win 1K on the other. I told him that i need to stop playing because i don't want to go into a chase mode. Being the true professional he didn't mind at all, despite me being up on him for the last two days.

Then i sat at another 5/10 only for loosegoose to come and drop me 2K before getting all back and some more. (in the region of $2K).

I checked my balance and i was sitting at apprx 6000 quid. I gave myself one more chance to recoup my losses, and sat at $10/20 Hu with a player called "LiuKangGG".

Within 30 mins turned my stack from 2000 dollars to peak at 9600 dollars before dropping down to 8600.

Confession : I must have come across as a hit and runner when i said i wanted to leave. The reception i got from him was not pleasing. But if i want to survive i guess i need to think of number 1. As the bankroll grows so will my table ethics.

Below are some of the big pots i played at this level. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

310 Quid is GOOD!!!!

Man, i need to stop playing for the sake of it. I need to focus! I need to concentrate! And I need to maintain my A game at all times whatever stakes im playing.

Leaked like Full on Tap today, donated few buy-ins at $1/2 and $2/5 mainly to corrosive, forunately for him and unfortunately for me he had made some awesome calls on me but it must have been visible that my game was not creative enough. My betting structure was crap and i was trying to buy every pot.

Then i sit at $5/10 again with bluecheek at 2 simultaneous tables -before i start i would like to make it clear that i think Bluecheek is a very good disciplined player who happens to be on a bad run.-

We must've played for about 4.5-5 hrs and manage to cover my losses for the day and even make a nice tidy profit of 310 quid.

The game started with me being extremely stupidly aggresive which resulted with few good calls by "BC" and that was enough to keep me honest for a while then things turned round and i was up. The chips were swinging from one to the other at high frequency for a long time before i hit my rush and stack him for a few times.

To be honest the match could've been either way had he hit the rush instead of me.

Too tired to post hands as we went through 100s of them. There were a few interesting ones but seriously i feel too drained to look for them.

The roll stands at 7861 quid.

PS: that anonymous tip has actually got me thinking about my game and was the trigger for me to re-focus during the game. So whoever it was THANK YOU!

£2445 is the name of the WIN!!!!!!!!

Got back from work, saw the most important person in my life, had some great time then had to head back home. Fired up littlewoods poker and started to look for games. I sat at $1/2 reluctantly waiting for an opponent and a player called "Kilimaha" sits. This is interesting because i used to play him at $.25/$.50 heads up. And for some reason or another he has tagged me as a total fish. For him to move up his stakes to play me its weird. After insulting me and calling me names (lol bless him) i stack him within few minutes. Then everything went pear shaped. I had to pay his quads and fullhouse and he manages to win a mere 100 dollars of me then sits out like a little kid. Claiming how good he is and that im a total fish.

After he left i sit at 2 more $1/2 and 1 $2/5 heads up tables only to wait there on my own. So got bored and decided that rather than multi tabling i would sit at one $5/10 heads up and give it my full attention.

This is where things got interesting. Player called Bluecheek was sat withh $1000 dollars so i join him. Bless him after few minutes of domination and over aggression by which time i already was up apprx 1000 dollars without showdown mustve pissed him of and this hand happens.

At this stage i knew i was in for a lot of value and was happy to see i get action this easily. :-)

Wednesday 14 May 2008

OK i think i have cashed out a nice sum of £2500 just in time. Reason i say its just in time is because i have been deluded by the large sums of profit i made in the last few days.
My sense of value has been deteriorated and consequently it has effected my game selection in a negative way. I started to jump into bigger games. 10/20 25/50 and the temptation was getting irresistible. Although my style i believe was actually where i wanted it to be i was bound to be swept by the variance as i am/was under rolled for those levels.

Luckily i have escaped through those limits without any damage and have managed to make a smallish profit of 100 quid.

This is a tough challenge and i recognize that lack of concentration or too much confidence can lead to the famous BUSTO!!! which i don't want ...

Other flattering news is that i have been refused heads up games by some of the players i used to idolize when i was playing smaller stakes. They claimed i was too good after playing 10 hands. LOOOLLLLLL

Sensible decision i guess.

Roll is now at £5113.96.

HIGH FIIIIVVVEEEEE to £1748 win!!!!!!!

Well very good day not just in terms of poker, but also there has been some great news concerning my personal life.

Unfortunately though CALLPLS is heavily injured after going upto 150 quid then droping to 0!!!! he wont be waking up for a while.

As the last man standing, ROYALFIRE has gone past the low stakes stages and hopefully won't look back unless something drastic happens. RF has managed to bank a win of 1748 quid.

The roll now stands at 7581 QUID!!!

i did take a shot at 10/20 without great success almost broke even (maybe a little win too.)

Then dropped down to where i feel comfortable $1/2 and if i run well $2/5. Had a heads up match with Lang_59 at $2/5 and skillfully stacked him 4.2 times (although he claims i was extremely lucky again!). But he returned to the table 5 minutes later and managed to win $900 back.

Overall i think its a great progress..

Midday had another short session at $2/5 and managed to cover my losses from the morning.

Then went out for a bit to enjoy the beautiful day and see a friend. Come back in the evening to have a short session of $2/5 and managed to bank a win of approx £1100...

Callpls account is now at £30 after i cashed out £300 today. I will have to turn it into a small project to try and build it up again.

Im not gonna write any lecturing about myself today. I was out of the system and played $1/2 hu. then 2/5 and 5/10 . My lowest point was 500 dollars and i sat with that entire roll of $500 on 5/10 and managed to take the roll upto $6400 dollars.

Then lost around $2000 and won some more on two simultaneous tables of $2/5 HU against the same player. (sat with $500 on both tables managed to leave with $2500 from both against lang_56)

The roll stands at 4587 quid on royalfire and 331 quid on callpls...

Slippery Slope1

This is a tough journey, and what im about to blog now in no way or form makes this adventure any easier. in fact if anything it actually jeopardises the whole challenge of building up a substantial bankroll if i don't do anything about it!

This game is about making as many correct decisions as you can for as long as you play it! It doesn't end there though does it?!? No matter how good you make your decisions, how well u play your hands there are periods where variance will pick on you and make you feel vulnerable to any two cards. AA seems to be meaningless, KK becomes a scary card coz u know that Ace will pop on the board, u will hit ur flush only to be up against runner runner Boat etc...

Enough has been said about these concepts before so i am not planning to go into detail. But!, to easily and stress freely ride these periods out of your way We need to define the limits we play according to our bankroll size!!!

What is my limits? where do i consider my main game? How often Should i take shots? What should i do When i fail at taking shots? Do i have a Stop Loss limit??

Coz the way im playing now, answers none of those questions thus leaving me to hover in the poker lobby and dive into any game my mood feels like for that particular moment.

On Thursday evening after writing the blog for wednesday i decide to play 1/2 $ HU and get stacked on a marginal hand.

i leave the game for about 10-15 minutes only to return to a 2/5 $ table and drive 7erdy7 account to a BUST !! Then i log in to Royalfire account to drop it down from 961 to 250 quid. At this point i almost knew what was going to happen so i left royalfire and logged into callpls with 85 quid and sat at $2/5 HU with the apprx 170 dollars against a full 500 stack.

I ran pretty good and managed to go upto 2000 dollars. i also did similar move on royalfire again and managed to take my combined roll up to 1800 quid.

The Final result is very good but in terms of risk reward this was a bad play and if nothing is done about it then im afraid i will soon have to write a final busto blog.

So here it goes ... I will probably cash out some more from the bankroll, My limits for now are defined as $.50/1 with the occasional 1-2 buyin shot at $1/2 heads up games.

If i drop 10 buyins then i move back to .25/.50.

And thats what i did last night and it was a good session so new bankroll stands at

aprx. 2070 quid on two accounts....

I hope to perform the same today.

Am i capable of sticking to these rules??? We will have to wait and see.....

Must've had the shortest session since this poker project started. RoyalFire account played at $1/2 for about 10-15 mins and made around 350 dollars..

Callpls lost 10 dollars in about 3-5 mins at .25/.50 and 7erdy7 made about 3 pounds in 2 hands.

Swinging!!!

WOHOOOOO!!! what a last 2 days i had... At one point i thought i would be writing a busto blog but glad everything turned out ok...

Bank holiday monday i had a nightmare session where i would flop the nut flush and lose to a runner runner fullhouse for a 250 quid pot. Flop the nut straight lose to a runner runner flush for 400 dollar pot etc. and tilt some more for the sake of it!!

End of that day i managed to drop Callpls account from 310 quid to 13 quid!!!! 7erdy7account from 700 quid to 300 quid and didn't touch the 150 littlewoods account. I could've ended up with a healthy bankroll but the miracle hands came one after the other to not only wipe the winnings but also deflate my roll.

I was fully aware that if i had carried on that night i would be writing a busto blog...so i left everything as they were and decided to cut losses. Something i haven't been able to do previously.

Yesterday was quite opposite though, ran pretty well for about 1.5 hours at $1/2 heads up tables and the bankrolls are back to ok level.

7erdy7 : £423
Royalfire : £815
Callpls : £90

I think i will give royalfire account a chance to take a stab at these stakes. (i know i know i said i would layout a structure but lets see how things go till the weekend.)

Hope to come up with a nicer title for tomorrow

+ £115

Played a short session last night, ran pretty good on both accounts but then lost somepart of the winnigs. So last nights figures were +115 (combined both accounts winnings)

Royalfire account is now active and i will probably try to grow it from next week.

steady day.....

Wake UP Call!!!

I thought the last few days were too good to be true, the rapid growth in the bankroll has effected my judgement on reality and needed an external shock to wake up from dreamland. Fortunately though the damage was not so bad to the confidence as such. It is a light warning but if i don't take actions, consequenses may be very heavy for me to handle in terms of managing a bankroll.

We went to a casino in Reading to enter the 20+3 MTT buyin rebuy tourney to have a laugh and also experience the live game. There was 3 of us but we had arrived about 3 hours too soon...

So what do you do in a casino to pass the time?? Well I don't know about you but for me it was, Hit the Bar get the drinks and sit at the blackjack table. Bought around 60 pounds worth of chips to start with and believe it or not didnt't last me 10 minutes!!!! The dealer was pulling cards to beat my 19-20 from left right and center.

Have you ever played Blackjack online and had a strong feeling of the whole thing being rigged??? Well rest assured The real thing was no different!!!

MTT though was a totally different story and was a good experience. Thinking about it now i must've worked real hard not to cash in.. As i was a massive chip leader almost throughout the whole tourney.

Arrogant attitude of mine though again got me in trouble and i couldn't get couple of opponents of bottom pair on dangerous boards..... Got out 11th when the top 7 was being paid.

Last night has cost me 290 pounds in total. (including drinks, BJ, poker and food.)

I will take these expenses of my online poker roll and today hopefully try to win some of it back.

Climbing up Fast

Got back from work yesterday turned on the PC, fired up william hill (callpls account) MTT tab and registered for the 1000 euro guaranteed prize pool tourney. I was doing good in fact i was in top 4 all the way to the bubble when 12 runners were left. Top 10 places were going to be in the money and i was sure i would make it there. What the heck even if i didnt play a hand and just sat out i would still make it.

As good as it sounds, poker gods must've seen my arrogant attitude and probably decided to punish me!

Got dealt KK on the button when the chip leader decides to raise 5*BB !!! Why so high? is he holding a lower PP? QQ? jj? or maybe even AK ? i crossed out the probability of AA as i couldn't see my self actually folding the hand, so i decide to push hoping to deny his odds of catching anything. And to my Amuse i get the INSTA CALL and yes POCKET ROCKETS were there smiling at me.... And that was me out of that tourney in 12th place.... Not a pleasant start to a session..

Then closed william hill and fired up interpoker for 7erdy7 account with the rake back i mentioned yesterday. Started my usual heads up sessions and made enough to cover my buyin previously on will hill and another buyin for me to enter the 7K gtd.
was out of that tourney chasing a flush with my above average stack :-) no need to go into details as my pot odds were not there but i still fancied the gamble to test the poker gods.

This is the point where everything started to go uphill (poker gods must have finished their shift) and i was being blessed with clueless weekend fish to increase my bankroll. I mean i didnt need the cards to beat these guys and they eventually gave up to their fate and surrendered their chips taking my 7erdy7 account up to 480 pounds.

Brilliant progress as that account was only at 77 pounds yesterday

So current Bankroll is sailing at 480+715= 1195 pounds. (also 150 quid rakeback on royalfire account but need to send documents to activate my account)

Tonight i will probably do a similar session; couple of MTT's and heads up matches. I just hope the frenzy is not over and i still get blessed with few clueless but dedicaTED opponents. :-)

EDIT: Just had an insane moment when i didn't need to.... lost 100 dollars on stupid play and i mean very stupid play to a weak player which has tilted me over the edge and did what i said i wouldn't do!!! Sat at $1/2 heads up with a shark called Dejnyrich but unfortunate for him i was more aggressive and also fortunate and the short session (around 30 mins) ended with him being stacked twice. This has increased my 7erdy7 bankroll to 650 pounds. I guess i have a long night ahead. Not proud but happy !!!!

NICE RESULTS...

Heads up games have been going really well, When fully concentrated I find myself right inside my opponents head and it feels as if I can predict their moves and make correct decisions accordingly. I aim to tilt them and the rest becomes easy, they start to lay me huge odds, make incorrect bets when they have the goods and etc etc.

To top it all I love it when the session ends with “You Lucky Fish!!!”

Managed to make $400 last night on $.25/.50 and also managed to make win my buyins for the £7K gtd and £1500 gtd MTT’s. Unfortunately I was card dead at the bigger tourney and not got two cards that I could play for about 1.5 hours when I finally pushed with AQ only to be beaten by 88.

But the other MTT was great and managed to finish second for a nice £300, although I believe I was lucked out on the final hand JJ vs 44. AIPF. (4 on flop has cost me my first prize :-) Nevertheless It feels good to stand out from 148 runners.

After that I played for a few more minutes on heads up tables and closed the nights session on £733. Not bad result after ive been working on engineering projects at the office all day.

I also got rakeback on my 7erdy7 account for a mere £77 which gives me a chance to build that up too.

I have plans to withdraw around £500-£600 and start again. This will be my approach for now until I build myself a plan. Otherwise the temptation to move up higher will eventually become irresistible and like I have mentioned before I want steady growth not rapid Bust!

I am also doing a lot of reading on Game theory and poker and trying to absorb the concept and apply it to my game. I think it will give me huge edge against most of my opponents if I can master this science side of the game.

Another aspect I want to improve is to try and become a very nice player at the tables since I find my self retaliating too often to abuse and it starts to semi tilt me. I might even consider turning my chat off.

Note : RoyalFire account has been blocked. when phoned they said i have been selected randomly for security check and need to send them my details!!! If i didn't have to wait for my 150+ rakeback i would cancel my account with them WHAT A NUISANCE and a load of old RUBBISH!!!!
