LUCKY FISH THAT I AM.......

It was a long session, i think another aspect of the game i need to improve is the length of the sessions. There is a limit for keeping the concentration level at peak, after i lose that, my game becomes boring and monotone. The creativity side of it vanishes and i become no different than a bot.

What started as a good day yesterday, almost ended with me being 2K down but luckily again managed to find a way to keep me in the green. Bluecheek last night played a brilliant game on both of the tables we were playing. I managed to drop 2 K on one of them and win 1K on the other. I told him that i need to stop playing because i don't want to go into a chase mode. Being the true professional he didn't mind at all, despite me being up on him for the last two days.

Then i sat at another 5/10 only for loosegoose to come and drop me 2K before getting all back and some more. (in the region of $2K).

I checked my balance and i was sitting at apprx 6000 quid. I gave myself one more chance to recoup my losses, and sat at $10/20 Hu with a player called "LiuKangGG".

Within 30 mins turned my stack from 2000 dollars to peak at 9600 dollars before dropping down to 8600.

Confession : I must have come across as a hit and runner when i said i wanted to leave. The reception i got from him was not pleasing. But if i want to survive i guess i need to think of number 1. As the bankroll grows so will my table ethics.

Below are some of the big pots i played at this level. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Originally I thought you were an awful player riding the crest of a hot streak. Watched a few of your sessions in the last few days (cos admittedly you are an action player and your matches are interesting in that sense). I think you can be/become a tricky opponent. There is no doubt that you have some very thin plays made against you because of an image you've built up; the upside? continue payments on big hands; the downside? what will happen to your roll once this heater comes to an end? Do you think you will win when you have sessions where the cards run dry? (i'm not particularly suggesting you won't, i'm just interested to see whether you think you can)

There are some major flaws in your game. Calling large 3bets with K4ss, in the long run that will hurt you greatly. The problem is if you flop the miracle K there is then no way you're laying your hand down. Sure if the K flops you think you're ahead , but genuinely do you really have any idea where you are at in the hand?

A key example was in a $1/£2 match the other day. You got your chips in on an AJ4 board with A9 when you and your opponent were over 150bbs deep and your bet size was ridiculous to the size of the pot. You got snapped off drawing dead by AJ and there went 350bbs down the drain. I've also noticed that your bluffs are so transparent, you tend to blast the river a lot of times with desperate overbets. You mentioned in your last post that Corrosive made some awesome calls. His calls were good, but they were standard, he makes them day in day out because hes a great HU player.

This isn't me having an open attack, its not my style, it is more friendly advice. I have been impressed by some of your play and once you calm down in matches you become a tricky opponent.

The final point is I noticed in a recent comment of bluescouse's blog that you didnt want to be the new him. Going to $10/$20 with a $12k roll is sucide. Like you said this time in worked out. If you had lost the first 2/3 big pots and had to rebuy that roll could be £0. Surely sticking to $2/5 and possibly the occasional shot at $5/10 is the wise plan?

LOl @ that J7 hand, what do you put him on when you make your pre flop/flop call?

Hi Anonymous

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a constructive comment.

I'm sure at times i must come across as a complete idiot like u said who is on a lucky strike.

Truth is everything happened so fast even im not sure if i am ready to take on the HU tables.

When i say this i consider many factors. I have no doubt that when i am fully focused with a fresh mind i have this confidence in me that says it will be a matter of time before i stack my opponent and i try to do that a lot with search bets, hence i can pull out tricky hands,

Other times i am playing out of pure boredom and thats when i know i am playing like a donkey. Thats where my leaks are and i tend to find my self tilted without even losing a pot. I can be winning and still be on boredom tilt.

Your criticisms on my preflop play over 3 bets and calls etc are valid and i agree totally.

Though if i feel my opponent has widened the range for openning hands, rather than go defensive i also increase my range. Now whether or not i can successfully implement this depends on my mood.

I guess what i need to do is work on myself to get to the psychological level i want to be at , before sitting at a game.

And yes 2/5 with occasional 5/10 shots should be sufficient enough for a donkey like me. I have been blessed with this roll and i should try to increase it the normal way, rather than thrill seeking spin-ups!

Hi anonymous 2 (or the same one!)

j7 hand was my last hand(ish). Now i knew he kept his range quite wide and after having a rudh i put him on tilt!

Now maybe it was a mistake but if i had caught another miracle card on turn it woulda meant another stack to me. As far as my read on him he woulda cont. bet on flop wheather he hit or not. Every raise up to then had rag cards.

Hu play i tend to go with the flow.

Maybe it was a mistake as i lost

around 500 dollars. Had i won it though i wouldve been in full control af the game and perhaps expect a few more buyins from the rattled gentleman.

Maybe im too optimistic, but implied odds were there for that particular moment i guess... (or not!!!)

I admire your honesty in many ways. There is nothing worse than when players try to justify bad plays by relating to what they believe to be 'theory'. I myself often find myself making speculative calls in HU play after I've been sat for a while. However, although this will work once of twice you have to consider your results based on the long run, i.e. Will that play work most times or fail most times? Hands like J7 and K4 will inevitably fail.

The success of players such as Corrosive and Bluecheek is that they play an uber solid game, but throw the ability to make plays in there to make them unreadable in many sense (although I think bluecheek has many more blatant flaws than Corrosive as you have proven in recent winning battles). However, on the whole these players are happy to lose the occasional K4 hand because they know in the long run they will be profitable in those spots.

Interesting you mention mindset. I am exactly the same, when I'm in the mood I seem quite unbeatable on occasions; however, I waste this by playing in periods where my head isn't in the game. Use the roll as a 'job'. It's a lot more boring but you seem like a decent guy and in the long run you will make a lot of money being sensible. Set aside hours you know you're going to play, give yourself structured sessions, e.g. monday play 7-10 and then make sure you're logging out at 10.

This is just friendly advice to make sure you don't do a Hollis. Everyone knows scouse plays cos he's a degenerate; although it is wonderful entertainment there is no doubt his journeys all end the same way; busto!

Gl on your quest sir,
;)
